Choosing an ethical wedding dress
Opt for a second-hand wedding dress or one from a local designer who uses organic or recycled materials. Several platforms offer second-hand dresses in excellent condition. Not only does this reduce your carbon footprint, it also saves you money.
Favouring ethical alliances
The choice of wedding rings can be based on the origin of the materials used. Choose rings made from recycled gold or ethically sourced precious stones. More and more jewellers are offering eco-responsible options.
Send digital invitations
Traditional paper invitations can be replaced by digital invitations. Easy to personalise and send, they considerably reduce the use of paper and the emissions linked to transport.
Opting for eco-friendly decoration
When it comes to decoration, opt for reusable or recyclable materials such as wood, glass or fabric. Garlands of dried flowers, natural wax candles or vintage objects will give your wedding a unique atmosphere while respecting the environment.
Choose your location with a specific objective in mind
When it comes to choosing your venue, there are ways to look for more sustainable options. Look for spaces that are environmentally friendly and use renewable energy sources, such as solar panels. Another more environmentally friendly route would be to stay in an outdoor location such as a park, vineyard or garden that requires less decoration.
Offering a local and seasonal menu
Encourage short distribution channels by choosing caterers who cook with local, seasonal produce. Also offer vegetarian or vegan options, which have a lower environmental impact than meat-based dishes.
Offer eco-responsible guest gifts
Food waste is a real issue at major events. For a sustainable wedding, work with a caterer who offers anti-waste solutions such as donating leftovers to local charities or offering dishes adapted to the actual size of your guest list.

Avoid the excess carbon needed to transport your flowers by supporting a local business or by asking your florist to source flowers and greenery from your wedding venue. Also, look for florists who follow sustainable practices, such as reducing the use of floral foam and sourcing organic flowers.
